This proposal burns 55.5 million OSMO from the Osmosis community pool by sending it to the null address, bringing the total OSMO burned to over 100 million.
Since [Hidden link] and [Hidden link], most of each day's OSMO issuance was directed to the community pool rather than distributed. Those proposals described this as a soft burn: the OSMO is out of circulation but still exists, and can be spent by a future proposal. They noted that governance could make the burn permanent by sending the balance to the null address.
The community pool now holds about 119.3 million OSMO and no longer receives newly issued OSMO as inflation is zero. About 44.4 million OSMO has been burned to date by sending it to the null address.
Send 55,500,000 OSMO from the community pool to the null address osmo1qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqmcn030. At current prices, this is about $3.2 million. The valuation is notional, as liquidity is unable to fulfil the full value at the spot price.
