Summary

This on-chain upgrade governance proposal is to adopt the Nolus v0.8.6 update for the Nolus Pirin (pirin-1) mainnet which is currently running on v0.8.5. This upgrade introduces the following changes:

• Solana Carrier Module: A new x/solanacarrier module pins the fee payer placed in Solana transaction carriers and allowlists the carrier instructions.
• CosmWasm Security Patch: wasmd is updated to v0.61.15 and wasmvm to v3.0.8, applying the latest upstream security fixes.
• Lower Consensus Timeouts: The recommended timeout_commit value written to node configuration on startup is reduced from 2s to 1.5s, while timeout_propose stays at 2s. This is expected to lower the average block time from the current 2.5s to about 2s.

On-Chain Upgrade Process

At the designated halt height, the Nolus network's state machine will stop functioning temporarily. Validators and node operators must manually replace the existing state machine binary with the updated version. Coordination among validators is encouraged and can be facilitated through the "chat" channel in the "Validators" section on Discord. The target block for this upgrade is 27247000, estimated to occur on Wednesday, 7th of October 2026, at approximately 09:00 UTC. This estimation assumes an average block time of 2.58 seconds.

This upgrade adds the store of the new solanacarrier module and sets its default parameters.

Alternatively, validators may leverage Cosmovisor to automate the binary upgrade to v0.8.6. Ensure the latest version is used to successfully implement the upgrade.
